Mia is a ceramic sculptor creating abstract figures that reflect her feelings and personal experiences. She translates the images in her mind directly into clay.
Mia van der Kop works primarily in bronze, marble, and reclaimed steel, carving and casting pieces that sit somewhere between the geometric and the organic. Her practice began in restoration workshops in Florence and has since grown into a body of gallery and public commissions.
Each work is an inquiry into how a solid mass can feel weightless — a study of poise, shadow, and the space a form carves out of the air around it.
